Text mode browsers (coming support)

Currently the wiki requires JS to login, so text mode browsers cannot be used.

  • Emacs Web Wowser (EWW)
    • Login: "I am unable to sign in to the FSD with EWW with <https://directory.fsf.org/wiki?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main+Page>. In the Emacs mini buffer I am reprompted for username and password and then I am redirected to a sign-in page <https://cas.fsf.org/login>.     • Password Reset: "I tried resetting the password. But it will not work with eww either. I received an email for resetting the password. The web page did not notify me. That is why I thought it did not work. But after receiving the replacement login email, I could not continue. All this is in EWW." - [email protected]
  • emacs-w3m: an Emacs interface to the w3m browser. Includes w3m.el, not w3.el. w3m.el is part of emacs-w3m.[1]

  • W3: aka Emacs/W3, a text-mode web browser completely written in elisp; includes w3.el. The w3 homepage says "Development has been dormant for a couple of years, so expect bugs due to bit rot."[2]

  • Editing: Lynx can only add 13473 bytes (13473 characters, or about 7 pages (2000 characters per page)) in the textarea form for pages at the wiki. For 13474 bytes (13474 characters) or more lynx reads: "HTTP request sent; waiting for response.", after 5 minutes it reads "Sorry! • mvs: "mvs is a command line client whose purpose is to simplify offline editing of Wiki content. It allows you to get any number of pages from a given Mediawiki site, edit the pages with any editor, get and merge any concurrent updates of the pages, and then safely commit the users own changes back to the version of the page on the server."
• W3M: a standalone text-mode browser much like lynx. Not related to Emacs. w3m.el is in the emacs-w3m package, available from the emacs-w3m homepage. This requires w3m to be installed. See the emacs-w3m page for details.[3]
